Supporting users at all stages of their journeys

Overeaters Anonymous (OA)

Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a community of people who support each other in order to recover from compulsive eating and food behaviors.

What We Did

We redesigned and rebuilt OA’s web presence around the core journeys people rely on most: finding a meeting, accessing resources, managing meeting information, and understanding OA in a clear, welcoming way. We developed a custom WordPress experience with tailored blocks, improved meeting search and filtering, service body tools, multilingual and accessibility considerations, and cleaner editorial workflows for OA staff.

Goals

OA needed a modern site that could support a global fellowship with in-person, online, phone, and service body meetings across many countries and time zones. The goal was to make the site easier to use for newcomers, members, volunteers, and administrators, with special attention to privacy, accessibility, search visibility, and reliable meeting data.

Challenges

The project required balancing a large amount of meeting and service body data with a simple, approachable user experience. We addressed complex filtering, time zones, phone and online meeting formats, translated interfaces, printable and downloadable reports, privacy protections, and SEO concerns while keeping the site manageable for OA staff and useful for visitors at any stage of their journey.

Results

The new site provides a faster, clearer, and more maintainable platform for OA’s public content and meeting tools. Meeting search is more flexible and easier to navigate, administrative workflows are more structured, and the site better supports multilingual users, mobile visitors, printable views, downloads, and privacy-conscious contact information.
