Creating a place of memory in the digital age

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust is New York’s contribution to the global responsibility to never forget, sharing Jewish history, culture, remembrance, and education with audiences across generations.

What We Did

We designed and developed a mobile-first museum website with a flexible CMS, bringing together exhibitions, events, storytelling, programs, initiatives, and the Holocaust Curriculum into one accessible digital platform.

Goals

The goal was to modernize the Museum’s digital presence, make its full range of offerings easier to discover, engage younger audiences, support longtime patrons, and give staff simple tools to manage content and communications.

Challenges

The challenge was balancing a broad content ecosystem with the needs of two distinct audiences: younger visitors drawn to mobile-first discovery and older patrons who needed clear navigation, readable type, strong contrast, and intuitive access.

Results

In the first six months after launch, the new platform increased pageviews by 60%, lifted session duration by more than 55%, and helped drive a 10% increase in visitation among the Museum’s target audience.

“This was not a departure from the Museum’s past, but an evolution of how its stories, exhibitions, programs, and mission can be experienced by new generations.”
